Hello, My Calvin Knotts. I am a Senior in the Agronomy Department majoring in Crop and Soil management. I have spent the past 4 summer working with my best friend raising processing tomatoes for Red Gold Inc.We now have our 2016 crop  transplanted and are working to fertilize and protect them from disease.
I have had the great opportunity today to meet 4 incoming members to our agronomy department. These individuals are participating in the Pathway To Purdue Program and have the intentions of acquiring their bachelors in Agronomy. As a transfer Student from Ivy Tech I could relate well to the group and I encouraged them to set big goals for their future and keep pushing towards them. It's been a great summer so far and I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall and meeting the new members of the agronomy department.

Sweet Summertime!

Hello everyone,

My name is Nick Thompson and I am a Junior studying Crop and Soil Management here at Purdue.  I am a new ambassador for this coming school year and look forward to serving the Agronomy Department.  I am also involved with the Agronomy club and personally believe this department is one of the best on campus.  I am currently planning to graduate in December of 2017.  My home town is Warren, Indiana which is a small town south of Fort Wayne roughly 45 minutes.  My family started row crop farming in 2008 which sparked my interest in agriculture and agronomy.  On campus I am also involved with Boiler Gold Rush and FarmHouse Fraternity.  Outside of school I enjoy hunting and the outdoors.  Fun fact, I have been black bear hunting twice and look forward to going many more times.  This summer I am testing the waters with the family business, I am working at Huntington Tool & Die and our family farm when I am needed there.  I enjoy engineering and machining so far and look forward to the rest of summer.  Maybe I'll be able to combine agronomy and engineering someday!

Enjoy the rest of summer and your time at Purdue!

Best regards,

Nick Thompson
